LEEM/PEEM-8 Workshop Proceedings will be published in Ultramicroscopy!

The LEEM/PEEM-8 Workshop Proceedings will be published as a special (but consecutively numbered) issue in Ultramicroscopy. This prominent international journal is committed to the advancement of new methods, tools and theories in microscopy. It aims to serve scientists who use existing tools and methods to advance knowledge in their disciplines as well as those who work towards advancing the tools and methods themselves.

Manuscripts may only be submitted online from 1 November 2012 via Elsevier's Editorial System (EES), which is accessible through the journal website. The manuscript submission deadline will be 15 December 2012, with no possibility of extension. To ensure that all manuscripts are correctly identified for inclusion into the special issue, please make sure to select 'Special Issue: LEEM PEEM 8' when you reach the "Article Type" step in the submission process.

All submissions should be full length papers, typically ca. six journal pages, not extended abstracts. Manuscripts should conform to the style and format of Ultramicroscopy. Submitted manuscripts will be peer reviewed to the usual high journal standards by at least two independent referees. Submission of a paper implies that it represents original work not previously published and not being considered for publication elsewhere. All previously published material shall be fully acknowledged in the manuscript. If any material from third parties is incorporated in the manuscript, the authors are responsible for procuring permission in writing from each copyright holder of such material for its use in the manuscript. Copyright of accepted papers will be vested with Elsevier. Authors will be requested to assign copyright to Elsevier.

Colour figures will appear on the web for free. If colour figures in the printed version are needed, an additional cost for reproduction of colour pages will apply as for regular papers in the Journal; prices available in the Journal's Guide for Authors. These costs will be borne by the Author(s) of a contribution containing one or more coloured pages.

The guide for authors, peer review policy of the journal and EES online submission tool can be accessed at the journal website: http://www.elsevier.com/locate/ultramic.
